
Salt Mine - Wieliczka
Full of unique beauty and continuously active since the Middle Ages, the historic Wieliczka Salt Mine is visited every day by tourists, showing off the greatest works of art carved over centuries of painstaking work of miners. The Wieliczka Underground Salt Mine boasts kilometers of walkways and ramps, magnificent chambers, lakes, and breathtaking salt statues.
On the route, we also encounter modern technologies that are intended to educate those who want to learn more about the mine. The smell of salt in the air, the healing microclimate, impressive chambers, wooden structures, and perfection down to the smallest detail - the charms of the Tourist Route attract and delight over a million tourists traveling every year from all over the world.
We start the trip at the Daniłowicz Shaft, where we meet the guide. They will tell you everything you want to know about the history and secrets of the mine. Descend 380 steps to the first level of the Mine, located 64 meters underground. The entire route consists of approximately 800 steps.
The Wieliczka Salt Mine was one of the first of 12 sites from around the world to be included on the UNESCO World Heritage List. It is one of the most visited tourist destinations in the world!
Remember to wear comfortable clothes and shoes. There is no lunch break in the itinerary.
IMPORTANT!
When purchasing reduced tickets, you must have a school/student ID, and in the case of children up to 12 years of age, a document confirming the child's age.
Tickets for infants/children are only available to families traveling with children.
The mine tour begins with descending 800 stairs underground and ends with an elevator ride.
The Wieliczka Salt Mine is located 135 meters underground, where the air temperature is approximately 14-16 degrees Celsius (57-61 degrees Fahrenheit). Therefore, it is worth taking warm clothes with you (e.g. sweaters, jackets).
